DEBLINA MAZUMDAR: The Spectacle That I Am

Extraordinary Us believes in nurturing talent through unique and immersive experiences that allow individuals to thrive in their passions.

Deblina Mazumdar’s journey is a shining example of how we champion growth, creativity, and connection in the arts. As a workshop attendee to someone who has found external opportunity in the local arts sector we are glad to have helped and support Deblina in her new found connections to the artistic network surrounding her.

Her story, from transitioning to a new country and city to discovering new artistic opportunities, highlights our commitment to empowering individuals to reach their potential. Through connections with programs like Transformations and Streets of Cov, both proudly enabled by Imagineer Productions, we hope to continuously open doors for both personal and professional development to make the most of Coventry’s potential. With exceptional individuals like Deblina we will always aim to foster not just careers, but communities of artists who are supported every step of the way.

In conversation with Deblina, she said:

I am Deblina Mazumdar, 29 years old.

Ten months ago, I moved from Jamshedpur, India, to Coventry, joining my husband and transitioning from my role at Mercedes Benz. As I adapted to the city, its people, and its culture, I decided to reconnect with my passion for the arts. I joined adult acting classes at the Belgrade Theatre, where I met new friends and began to carve out a social life.

My instructor, Paul (Extraordinary Us) then introduced me to Transformations by Imagineer Productions, opening doors to the arts industry. Through the Transformations summer program, I had the chance to learn Giant Puppetry skills with the Autin Dance Theatre group and even performed at the Godiva Music Festival in Coventry.

Additionally, I gained experience as an Artist Liaison for the Streets of Cov initiative, which helped me better understand the industry and build connections. I also write poetry, and thanks to the support from the Transformations team, I’ve been exploring platforms to present my work. I’m now looking forward to further opportunities in the arts, with aspirations of becoming an actor in the future.
